Trung Uong Hotel on Ng. Tri Phuong

Vietnam » As I was saying saying, these kinds of hotels are running themselves down for decades from the day they were built, everything is basic, the furniture hasn't been updated like 30 years ago, cracks, wears and tears are everywhere, even the bed coverings are worn out (my room's TV remote didn't even work). The inside of the place feel likes it lacks the care of human, stale and dark. The restaurant next door which is Taiwanese I presume is nothing special, the bland noodle dishes take some getting used to, don't expect any toppings on some dishes. The word is that this place is in the same company with Hanh Long Hotel on Tran Hung Dao. I only made the choice to stay here beccause it's located in a great area on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street, everything tasty is within a walking distance, still 300,000 dongs for a single room is a bit much; better options are nearby....

Vietnam » A favorite place of mine in Nha Trang, with standard settings, sorry didn't pay attention to the address, but if you come to the city and ask the motorbike/taxi drivers for "nha hang Ngoc Trai" they'll tell you... um and I was too busy chowing down instead of taking pictures of the interior, anyway the point is it's where the savvy locals like my friends enjoy their foods, and that's more than enough a good reason for me. Serio tho, you come for the seafood, stay for the seafood, and return for the seafood. (humm, after posting this, the google panel on the right, being helpful as it is, has revealed that the place is at 75 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, it doesn't show other addresses so I'm gonna stick with this)...

Sorry can't remember the exact address, you can ask around every body in Quy Nhon knows. It's a quiet city with humble scenes that become empty very quick at night but these late night streets full of cheap foods can still be crowded, it's a local thing....

It was a beautiful day, clear sky, cool breezing wind washing over my smoothly shaved face, and the traffic wasn't that crazy. Vietnam » I'm not kidding with the title, at least I think they were serious. We caught this place across the street from our hotel, the little line under the banner made us stop for a taste with some snickering on the side. The grill dishes we ordered were good but I would not know if it's "damn good", we got a good laugh out of it though. The girl who were serving us didn't know what we were laughing about but she thought we were a happy couple. It's not in the center of Nha Trang, it's off to the north of the city, you shouldn't see tourists walking around there. Mostly the locals gathered there but since the quirky English line they had up there they were as well expecting tourists. There's a few other restaurants like it nearby, I'd imagine they would be the same. If you go northward towards the end of the Tran Phu street and pass the bridge it should be right at the first corner on the left, this place is not bad to try at least once....

United States » This may be the longest shot of a post I've ever posted, can anyone recognize this bug-like creature, what is it called? While taking a break on the deck behind our house in Pottstown during one summer afternoon, I spotted this strange little guy standing/sitting motionlessly in the middle of the glass table, curiously, it didn't seem to mind my not so surreptitiously moving in on it taking a few shots. Not much of a bugologist (or entomologist), I know that new species of bugs/insects are found everyday and, incidentally, new ones are gone into extinction without much of a fanfare, could it be possible that I've discovered a new species???...
